1.	Trance Innovation : We've heard that you are now the man in charge of discovering new & upcoming talent for your label. Compared with the U.K., Japan's trance scene is still in its infancy, with little depth or history. Armed with your knowledge and experience of the U.K. club scene, is there any advice you can offer to young Japanese artists??
	James Grant氏は新人発掘も担当されていると聞きました。U.K.に比べると日本のトランスシーンはまだまだ小規模で、歴史も浅いです。日本の若手アーティストへ、アドバイスはありますか？
	James Grant : Anjunabeats is Above & Beyond's label and they are the main men when it comes to finding new talent, but I work very closely with them across all areas of the business, including A&R. It's difficult to define exactly what we're looking for when we sign artists, but it certainly helps if the artist has their own unique sound that stands out from the crowd. So that would be the main advice I could give on production - focus on developing your own style. Productions are also get way to kick start your DJ career. If you're making great music then promoters are more likely to show interest in booking you as a DJ. If you're finding it difficult to persuade promoters to book you then don't be afraid to start running parties with and for your friends, and grow your own night from there!

2.	Trance Innovation : Anjunabeats has one of the finest collections of talented and skilled artists of any label in the world. What characteristics do you look for when selecting an artist for your label?
	Anjunabeatsは世界でも有数の多くの才能ある人材が集まっているレーベルですね。今後はどのような人材を求めますか？
	James Grant : Wow, that's quite an accolade! Apart from the point above about trying to sound a bit different from everyone else, it's important that we can see the potential for an artists to make lots of great follow up tracks. We're interested in signing and building artists rather than releasing just one song and then you never hear from the artist again

3.	Trance Innovation : With Anjunabeats Vol.5 we see the first ever Japanese artist included in the compilation. Is there any other Japanese talent that you have your eye on?
	Anjunabeats vol.5で初めて日本人アーティストの曲が収録されました。他にも日本人で気になる人物はいますか？
	James Grant : Well we've just commissioned a Satoshi Fumi remix of Above & Beyond's 'Oceanic' track, which I'm looking forward to hearing. I first heard of Satoshi from his releases on a label called Urbantorque. He's a talented guy and I think his stuff sounds a bit like slowed down trance, although I'm not sure he would like that description so maybe we'd better call it 'melodic deep house'! We would love to hear more demo submissions from Japanese producers and I would encourage everyone to send us their tracks via our website (see link below). We can't provide feedback on every track but everything gets listened to and we will be in touch if we think something is right for the label

4.	Trance Innovation : Anjunabeats started out as a purely trance label, however, since they we've seen AnjunaDeep become bigger and bigger. What kind of vibe can we expect from the latest installment of Anjunadeep?
	AnjunabeatsはTrance Labelとして始りましたが、AnjunaDeepの存在も大きくなりました。今後のAnjunabeatsの音楽性はどのようなものになるのでしょうか？
	James Grant : I think the next run of releases on Anjunadeep could be our strongest sequence yet, I'm really excited about some of the stuff we've got lined up. Tracks like Michael Cassette 'Zeppelin' and Chunk & Twist 'Battery Life' are so fresh, and I'm crazy about everything Jaytech's doing at the moment, the man's on fire. I'll try to play as many of these as I can on the 16th in Tokyo :-) At the moment we're going through a spell of what you might describe as lush melodic house, but I can't predict what direction we'll take from here. The nice thing is that there aren't really any rules for Anjunadeep, we just sign tracks that we love and see what unfolds...

5.	Trance Innovation : Anjunabeats and it's partner Euphonic are without a doubt one of the most popular trance labels out there. Can you tell us about the relationship, and how it came to be?
	Anjunabeats、そして提携先のEuphonicは日本でもまた最も人気のあるトランスレーベルです。提携のきっかけや、結びつけた要素は何だったのでしょうか？
	James Grant : We always joke that Euphonic and Anjunabeats are like Partner cities but I guess we're just two independent record labels built upon similar philosophies and musical styles. There's no real formal relationship there as such, we just release some of their tracks in the UK and they release some of ours in Germany. It's all fairly easy going and we collaborate on stuff whenever we can

6.	Trance Innovation : Anjunabeats Vol.5 is the first in the series to be a 2-CD set. Could you tell us a little about the concept behind the album and it's inspiration?
	Anjunabeats vol5はシリーズ初の二枚組みでした、それはどのようなコンセプトで作られましたか？
	James Grant : We can't promise all future volumes will be two cd's but this year we had so much great material it just seemed rude not to do a double CD. The Volume Series started as a more retrospective thing but over time we've managed to get a lot of upfront unreleased material on there and it's a great way to introduce people to the music they'll be hearing in Above & Beyond and Anjunabeats DJ sets over the year
	これからのリリースは全部二枚組みになるかは約束できないけど、今年は本当に良い曲がありすぎて、もし二枚組みにしなかったら失礼だと思ったよ。 最初は’Volume Series'はレーベルの歴史からできたもの。でも、それから変わって今はまだリリースをしていないトラックがたくさん入ってて、Above& BeyondとAnjunabeatsのサウンドを紹介するのにぴったりのものだね。
7.	Trance Innovation : 2006 saw you guys release a ton of albums, and 2007 has already seen Anjunabeats Vol.5 come out. What kind of releases can we expect in the near future?
	2006年は多くのアルバムが発売され、2007年にはAnjunabeats vol5が発売されました。今後どのようなリリースを予定されていますか？
	James Grant : The biggie is the Oceanlab album. Oceanlab is a project involving Above & Beyond and Justine Suissa and we're hoping to release the album early in 2008. We're also talking to the likes of Maor Levi, Boom Jinx, Super8 & Tab and Jaytech about albums, but it's tough to give timescales on those!
	一番ビッグなのはOceanlabのアルバムだよ。OceranlabはAbove & BeyondとJustine Suissaのコラボレーションで、アルバムは2008年の始めぐらいにリリースする予定。それと、Maor Levi、Boom Jinx、Super8 & Tab、そしてJaytechとアルバムの作成の話し合いもしているんだ。それはいつくらいに出せるかはまだまだ未定だけどね！
8.	Trance Innovation : This being your second time to Japan, could you tell us a little about your impression of the country?
	二度目の来日となりますが、日本の印象はどうですか？日本という国の現在のイメージについてお聞かせ下さい。
	James Grant : I was lucky enough to come to Tokyo 2 years ago and have fond memories of that the trip. It's culturally very different from the UK and a fascinating place to visit. I met some great people last time around and am looking forward to seeing them again. One incident that sticks in the memory was my first meal in Japan. I was introduced to eel (Unagi!?) and told it would give me the strength to stay awake for the gig, after my long flight. Eel isn't something I've ever considered eating before but it did the trick!
	二年前幸運にも東京に来ることができて、その旅では素敵な思い出たくさんあるよ。U.K.と日本は文化がとても違って、本当に面白い所。前回沢山の素晴らしい出会いがあって、またその皆と会えるのはすごい楽しみ。一つの記憶に残ってるエピソードは日本で一番最初の食事！それは、ウナギだった。フライトの疲れが取れてギグのために元気と力になるよ！って言われて、本当にそうだったんだ！
9.	Trance Innovation : Finally, is there anything you would like to say to your Japanese fans?
	日本のファンへのメッセージ的なものがあればお願いします。
	James Grant : Thanks for your support and really looking fwd to meeting as many of you as possible at the Anjunabeats party, should be a good one. Bring on June 16!
